Skull tattoos at first glance may appear gothic, portraying a negative image of the bearer, but they do not always mean what they resemble. They could even represent protection, strength, power, overcoming bad times, etc. In short, representing positivity/optimism! One example in that direction is featured above: a person who etched this scary ‘skull tat’ onto his elbow wanting to overcome the rough patch in his life.
